A closer look at the lock-off flex room, and what you can do with one.
Lock-off flex rooms are full bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms that have their own separate entrances accessible from the outside. The intention is to give homeowners a space that can be used in a variety of ways to meet their needs, including renting it out for extra income.
The separate entrance is what makes the difference. The room can work as part of the home, or stand on its own, depending on how you choose to use it.
Lock-off flex rooms are not legal suites. They are counted within a home’s bedroom total rather than added on top of it.

Each lock-off flex room is designed to function on its own, so family, guests or tenants can live close by while everyone keeps their privacy.
Wet bars are included in the Alpha’s flex room and in one of the Beta’s two flex rooms. The resident laundry studio is pay-per-use and open to residents only.
Open it up to the rest of the home, lock it off and rent it out for extra income, or set it up however suits you best. Below are some visual examples of different ways to set up your lock-off flex room.
A comfortable room for family and friends, with its own ensuite and entrance. Guests are self sufficient, coming and going on their own schedule.
A private room with its own entrance and ensuite. This is the setup most often rented out, and the one that offers income potential.
A room for the kids to sleep and play. The door closes on the noise when you need it to.
A calm room for a new arrival, steps from the main living area. Close the door when it is time for quiet.
A dedicated workspace away from the main living area. The private entrance and ensuite make it just as suitable for meeting clients.
A home based business with its own entrance and ensuite. Clients never step into your living space.
Space to train without leaving home. Set it up the way you want and it is ready whenever you are.
Somewhere for the games table, the console and a few comfortable chairs. A room where a bit of mess is allowed.
Room for a big screen and comfortable seating. Sound stays where it belongs, on the other side of a closed door.
Prices are subject to change without notice.
